Wordley Martin Returns as Prix Sponsor at 2020 Ocala Horse Properties’ Eventing Prix!

 19 February 2020     No Comments

The OHP Eventing Prix is entering it’s 7th years at Max Corcoran’s and Scott Keach’s Southern Cross Farm in Ocala.  We at Wordley Martin have also been behind this event since it’s onset, as this competition is a unique opportunity for top level eventing athletes to compete in a high pressure show jumping setting.  Southern Cross is also a Wordley Martin arena, built in 2012, and a prime example of how our arena design and surface holds up year after year – still performing and looking like new!

We are looking forward to this year’s event, being held Tuesday March 3rd in Reddick, Florida.  We hope that you’ll join us for a day of top notch competition!  Below is the OHP Eventing Prix’s 2020 Press Release:

The 7th Annual $20K Ocala Horse Properties’ Eventing Prix Invitational Returns to Southern Cross Equestrian

In it’s 7th consecutive year, Ocala Horse Properties has once again stepped up as Title Sponsor for the top show jumping competition offered to event riders in Ocala! The Ocala Horse Properties’ Eventing Prix Invitational, held on Tuesday March 3rd, showcases top ranked event riders show jumping against the clock for $20K in prize money. Since Ocala is a mecca for international level event riders, the ability to offer this type of show jumping experience to those equestrians has become wildly popular.

The concept for the event was launched in 2013 by Max Corcoran (current USEA Pressident), and Olympic show jumper/event rider, Scott Keach, who are based out of Southern Cross Equestrian. Drawing on their professional knowledge, Max and Scott recognized the need to create a competition for event riders that simulated the atmosphere and pressure experienced at the grand prix show jumping level.

On Tuesday, March 3rd a field of 34 horse and rider combinations will compete over a proper 1.30m track at Southern Cross Equestrian, in Reddick, Florida. The $20,000 Ocala Horse Properties’ Eventing Prix is now USEF sanctioned and open to horses and riders that have competed at the (Eventing) Intermediate Level or above in the previous 24 months but not necessarily as a combination. If there are more than 34 entries, they will be accepted based on the FEI Eventing World Ranking List.

Last year the top 3 individual prizes went to Will Coleman aboard TKS Cooley, Jenny Brannigan aboard Ibella and Matt Brown on Talking Point BCF. The competition was a great success, showcasing the region’s greatest equestrian talent to a large crowd of spectators, sponsors and fellow equestrians.

For 2020, Chris Barnard will return as course designer. EQTV will produce the Livestream with international rider, trainer and judge, Cathy Wieschhoff and a special guest (TBA) on the microphone. World renowned Olympic and FEI commentator John Kyle will join us once again and will keep the spectators informed with his wealth of knowledge over the live feed.

The ever-so-popular VIP tent features an open bar and food by Celebrations Catering of Gainesville. VIP Tables are sold out, but general admission and parking is free to all spectators. There will be free beer courtesy of Brewster Walker Horse Transport, and food for purchase will be available from Humble Pie Wood Oven Pizza and Squeezy Lemonade.

Sponsorship thus far has been remarkable with Ocala Horse Properties coming back on board as Title Sponsor each year since this event was founded! Light Speed Equestrian, Stellos Electric and Equijet have signing on as Presenting Sponsors; Wordley Martin Equestrian, Peak Performance (Furlong & Associates), Stadium Horse Trucks as Prix Sponsors; Mars Equestrian, Buckeye Horse Feeds, Stubben NA, Lane’s Mark Farm and Fox Hill Forge are joining as Jump Sponsors.

In a recent show of support to our competitors, Equijet has stepped beyond their Presenting Sponsorship to award the winning rider with a $5000 flight voucher for travel within the US or abroad!

This event is dependent upon the generosity of their sponsors, and the organizers are truly thankful to their loyal sponsors and VIP’s who come together year after year in support of the eventing community in Ocala. So spread the word, gather up your friends and plan to attend the Ocala Horse Properties’ Eventing Prix on March 3rd for a day of world class competition here in Marion County!
