3 Cheers for The Inaugural Event at Terranova

The Event at Terranova
October 22nd – 24th, 2021
Myakka City, Florida

Terranova Equestrian Center held their inaugural 3 day event, hosting a full dance card of national and FEI divisions from Starter-Intermediate and CCI1*S – CCI4*S.  The ability to host such a large event was the culmination of a massive efforts and broad vision of the Herrig/Ketelboeter families, as well as the guidance of industry experts from XC course designer Captain Mark Phillip, XC course builder Eric Bull (ETB Construction),  show jump designer Nick Granat, facility manager Michale Belisle, sponsorship director Ainsley Hayes,  event managers Max Corcoran and Shelly Howerton Page, Media coverage by Carrie Worth and EQ Media – as well as committee members including Sara Kozumplik Murphy, Adam Lamb, Terri Stevens, and Anne Valtin.

Wordley Martin Equestrian began our relationship with Terranova Equestrian Center in 2019 when we broke ground on the covered and outdoor arenas at the main training facility.  The design and build of the remaining 6 competition arenas include a massive 300 by 420′ main arena, two 200′ x 300′ arenas, a 175′ x 300′ arena, a 175′ x 250′ arena and a 175′ x 600′ arena – which was integrated into the Event at Terranova’s cross country course.   Craig Martin was on site all week with his crew in preparation for the event, ensuring that the footing in the warm up and main competition arenas were in top form for the competitors.  He, Sharn and their team also meticulously rolled the arena on the XC course, so the depth and composition of the footing simulating the natural footing for the horses.

Highlights of the weekend included a winning weekend for the Grant-Law family with Great Britain’s Leslie Law winning the CCI 4*S aboard Lady Chatterley and the Open Preliminary, sponsored by Overlook Farm, aboard Irish Sport Horse gelding Shirsheen Ice.  His wife, Lesley Grant-Law (CAN),  riding Castle Howard Romeo, won the Open Intermediate, sponsored by Wordley Martin Premium Equestrian Surfaces!

In between hosting interviews and press conferences, committee member Sara Kozumplik-Murphy also had an incredibly successful weekend, winning the CCI 3*S aboard Devil Munchkin, and finished second in the CCI 4*S aboard Rubens D’ysieux, both horses owned by the Unicorn Group.

The weekend truly was a family affair with Ocala-based Tik Maynard (CAN) winning the CCI2*-S aboard Galileo, a KWPN gelding owned by Richard Maynard on a score of 21.3, the best dressage score of the weekend. He also placed second on the Irish Sport Horse gelding SKM Lux Sonata, on 28.6 – and his wife Sinead (USA) won the CCI1*-S, aboard the 2010 Irish Sport Horse mare Oldcourt Grafen Dance!
