The concept of forming an Eventing Prix was born 3 years ago when Scott Keach of Southern Cross Equestrian felt that the Eventing community would embrace a show jumping competition format.  Scott, who previously represented Australia in Eventing at the Olympics, has since switched his career focus to Grand Prix Show Jumping and is a top competitor and teacher.  He has a special perspective on both sports and discovered that event riders embraced a day of high stakes show jumping which includes an attractive prize purse not often found in the sport!

Wordley Martin Equestrian installed the ring at Southern Cross equestrian nearly 4 years ago, and the ring has stood up to the high traffic use of Scott’s students on a daily basis.  Scott is well known for cross training event riders who flock to Ocala for the winter season and many were at the event on Tuesday.  Wordley Martin didn’t hesitate to step up to sponsor and support this event, and we were very impressed with the organization and media coverage of the 3rd annual Ocala Horse Properties Eventing Prix Invitational!

EQTV was on site to broadcast live streaming of the show for those who couldn’t attend.  In case you weren’t able to view the event live, here is your chance to hear a review of the riders, the course and David O’Connor’s assessment of the competitors!  You can also get a great view of the Wordley Martin arena and the technical challenges of the Marc Donovan designed course.

We’d like to congratulate Lauren Kieffer on Meadowbrook’s Scarlett for their handy win in the class on Tuesday.  Lauren’s efforts also helped secure the win for Team USA which consisted of Lauren, Phillip Dutton, Lynn Symansky and Buck Davidson.

Thanks go out to Max Corcoran and Scott Keach, the event organizers…and to Jenni Autry and Jimmie Schramm for their excellence in live event coverage.  It was a fun day of show jumping for the entire Ocala equestrian community.
